General Overview:
Serves on a casual basis, works when needed, Civil Engineering Technician supporting the TSSC-III Program through the Oklahoma City, OK Office based.
 
The ideal candidate will have 5 - 8 years of professional experience and perform the following duties:
 
This technician assists in application of principles, methods, and techniques of construction technology, reviews project specifications and confers with the appropriate personnel concerning assistance required, such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reports.  This technician conducts materials testing and analysis, using tools and equipment and applying knowledge necessary to prepare reports detailing work conducted and the results.  The Technician surveys project sites to obtain and analyze details of sites, using maps and surveying equipment.  
 Typical assignments include:
 ·         Performs site surveys and inspections as frequently as necessary to ensure the required work is accomplished satisfactorily and conforms to the contract requirements.
·         Conducts constructability reviews.
·         Communicates with the different construction subcontractors assigned to jobs.
·         Participates in Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) as required.
·         Keeps a construction diary on the status of assigned tasks.
·         Submits weekly progress reports and participate in weekly construction meetings.
·         Reads and thoroughly understands the Resident Engineers Manual as well as the Program Policies/ Procedures.
·         Construction inspections to confirm conformance to Contract Documents.
·         Identify possible supplies for parts.
·         Review schedules.
·         Escort contractors.
·         Identify possible construction problems and suggest resolutions.
·         Document construction progress through reports and pictures.
·         Evaluate contractor claims and provide recommendations to the client.  
Inspection or installation of concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, shotcrete, structural steel welding, fireproofing and testing of soils, aggregate, concrete, asphaltic concrete and grading observations.
 Preferred Education/Experience:
 
-       Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field is desireable but not required
-       A minimum of 5-8 years experience in the construction or related industry is preferred.
-        The CET shall be capable of, but not limited to, interpreting Construction Contract documents including drawing, specifications, and government rules and regulations.
-       Good written & verbal communication skills.
-       MS Office experience and computer proficiency required.
-       May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
-       Weekends, Night Shift and Overtime may be required.
-       Desire at least 3 years experience working in and around critical operational facilities.  (FAA facilities, data centers, airports, commercial telephone sites, etc.)
-       Must be able to meet customer security requirements (moderate to high risk).  A background check by federal authorities will be performed.
-       Must have a strong ability to learn, adapt to new situations, and work independently in the field while leading skilled and unskilled workers.
